A collection of resources for your journey

Books, videos, courses, and practical resources, some I’ve created and others that have inspired me, thoughtfully chosen to support your journey of learning, healing, and personal growth.

Recommended Books

Books have been some of my greatest teachers. They have challenged my thinking, deepened my understanding of psychology and human nature, and offered comfort, wisdom, and inspiration during different seasons of my life.

Below is a collection of books I genuinely recommend; some have influenced my work as a counsellor, others have shaped me personally. Wherever you are on your journey, I hope you'll find something here that speaks to you.

Understanding Trauma

When The Body Says No

Gabor Mate

A well-known medical doctor shares research of people who experienced stress end surpressed emotions and how those affected their physical body.

Waking the Tiger

Peter Levine

An older book, but a wonderful introduction to Somatic Experiencing and the body’s natural ability to heal from overwhelming experiences.

The Body Keeps the Score

Bessel van der Kolk

A groundbreaking book that explains how trauma affects both the mind and body, while offering hope that healing is possible.

The Dance of Anger: A Woman’s Guide to Changing the Patterns of Intimate Relationships

Harriet Lerner

Anger is not a bad emotion; it is actually a loyal one and worth listening to. This book is on how to turn anger into a constructive force for reshaping one’s life.

You Are the One You’ve Been Waiting For: Applying Internal Family Systems to Intimate Relationships

Richard C. Schwartz

A compassionate and transformative guide to understanding the different parts of ourselves that show up in relationships. This book offers a powerful framework for cultivating deeper self-awareness, healing, and more connected, authentic relationships.

Set Boundaries, Find Peace: A Guide to Reclaiming Yourself

Nedra Glover Tawwab

One of my favourite books on boundaries and self-respect. It reminds us that setting boundaries isn’t about pushing people away, it’s about creating healthier relationships with both ourselves and others.

Attached

Amir Levine & Rachel Heller

An accessible introduction to attachment theory that helps explain why we relate to others the way we do and how secure relationships can be built.

Hold Me Tight

Dr. Sue Johnson

A compassionate guide to creating deeper emotional connection and stronger relationships.

The Happiness Trap

Dr. Russ Harris

One of the best introductions to Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), filled with practical tools for responding differently to difficult thoughts and emotions.

Radical Acceptance

Tara Brach

A beautiful invitation to meet yourself with compassion rather than criticism, helping transform shame, anxiety, and perfectionism.

Man’s Search for Meaning

Viktor Frankl

A timeless reminder that even in life’s greatest challenges, we can still choose our attitude and create meaning.

Why I recommend it
“This book has stayed with me for years. It reminds me that while we can’t always control what happens to us, we can choose how we respond and what kind of person we become.”

The Untethered Soul

Michael A. Singer

An inspiring exploration of awareness, inner freedom, and living with greater presence.

The Gifts of Imperfection

Brené Brown

A gentle and encouraging guide to letting go of perfectionism and embracing wholehearted living.

Atomic Habits

James Clear

A practical roadmap for creating meaningful habits and making lasting change through small, consistent actions.

The Artist’s Way

Julia Cameron

Far more than a book about creativity, The Artist’s Way is a twelve-week journey of self-discovery. It invites us to reconnect with curiosity, intuition, play, and the parts of ourselves that may have been forgotten along the way.

Why I recommend it
“I’ve facilitated The Artist’s Way for many years, and I’ve witnessed firsthand how transformative this work can be. While it’s often associated with artists, I believe it’s really about becoming more fully yourself. Creativity isn’t reserved for painters or musicians, it’s a way of approaching life with openness, courage, and authenticity.”

The Others Within Us

Robert Falconer

A fascinating exploration of the deeper dimensions of the human experience through the lens of Internal Family Systems. This book encourages curiosity, humility, and openness to the many ways people understand themselves, healing, and consciousness.

Energy Medicine: Balancing Your Body’s Energies for Optimal Health, Joy, and Vitality

Donna Eden, David Feinstein

A fascinating exploration of well-being through the lens of energy medicine and body awareness. While my work is grounded in psychology, I appreciate resources like this that invite curiosity about the many dimensions of healing and our relationship with ourselves.

Why People Don’t Heal and How They Can

Caroline Myss

One of the books that challenged me to think more deeply about healing and the many factors that shape our lives. Whether or not you agree with every perspective, it offers meaningful questions about self-awareness, resilience, and personal transformation.

Journey of Souls

Michael Newton

One of the books that expanded my curiosity about consciousness, purpose, and the many ways people understand the human experience. Whether or not its perspective resonates with you, it offers an opportunity to reflect on life’s bigger questions with openness and wonder.
